Dear Jeanine and family - I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. I am literally sitting here at work with tears in my eyes after reading your message Jeanine. He sounded like an amazing Dad and overall human being. I can tell you this: The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. As your patient I see many of your Dads qualities in you. Connection, passion, patience to name a few. Again, to you and your family please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your Dad.

A Successful Man
Author Unknown
“That man is a success –
who has lived well,
laughed often and loved much;
who has gained the respect of intelligent men
and the love of children;
who has filled his niche
and accomplished his task;
who leaves the world better
than he found it;
who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty
or failed to express it.;
who looked for the best in others
and gave the best he had.”

Dear Dad,

Although I knew the day would come when I would have say good-bye, I never imagined the incredible void I would feel when you were gone. There are so many things I want to say to you, but I only have so much time so let me start by saying “thank you” for the many things I am so grateful for.

Thank you for loving mom with a love that is hard to believe exists in this day and age. 59 years is quite an accomplishment!! Although you were a man of few words, the love you had for her was so apparent in the little things you said and did. You made our house a warm and loving home. Even though you worked shifts, went to school and traveled - I never remember a time you weren’t there. When I look back at my childhood, all I remember is always feeling safe and loved. Thank you for teaching us, by example, the importance of family. Whether it was visiting the family on holidays or seeing nana and pop pop on Saturday afternoons - Nothing would ever interfere with your routine. That sense of commitment to family is a value I cherish, and will always try to instill in my children. I have such wonderful memories of time spent w/ my grandparents, and am so happy Nick, Elliana and Emily have so many special memories w/ you and mom.

Thank you for being such a constant presence in my life. It no surprise to anyone here today that I counted on you for everything. When I was a little girl, I thought you were larger than life. And when I grew up, that didn’t change at all. -Probably because I never stopped being your little girl :). Regardless of my age, you never stopped looking out for me….

You weren’t just my dad; you were my buddy. We always had such a great time when we were together… Remember how we went to ww meeting on Saturdays and mass together on Sundays? And then we would walk the boardwalk and have breakfast at RAYS. We rode bikes by the beach and had lunch dates at Harrigan’s. We also shared many fast ferry rides to NY. I loved watching Mets games and Villanova games with you and watching our shows at night on the couch. All these special moments are tucked away deep within my heart and I am so grateful to have shared so many special moments with you.

We shared a love for dogs and ice cream and everything Irish. We also were “collectors”, and had a tough time letting go of things. This was NOT a quality endeared by mom and Nuno- who LOVED to throw things out!! Most importantly, we shared and amazing bond of love for one another.

Even though you gave so much to Mom, Kevin, me, Nuno and all your grandkids, you still had more to give! There was never a time you weren’t there to change a fixture, hang a fan, pick someone up, drive someone somewhere, or do anything at all for your friends or family. Your siblings, your sisters and brothers -in law and your nieces and nephews meant so much to you - and the unconditional love you had for us - extended to them.

Thank you, dad, for all the wonderful memories you have given me and our family. Thank you for helping me to realize the importance of Faith, because I find so much comfort in knowing you are at peace in heaven now, and I know someday we will be together again.

I am sure I speak for everyone when I say that none of us will ever forget your smile or the twinkle in your crystal blue eyes. Your love and patience, your kindness and your strength will never be forgotten. You have given us gifts that are more precious than anything in this world.

I could go on and on, but I think I covered the most important stuff!! So, Good-bye, Donald, Uncle Donnie, Sparky, Pop Pop, Daddy. You may have played a different role in so many people’s lives, but your memory will live on in each of our hearts forever. (Especially Mine!)

Love Always,

Jeanine xoxo
