Rodney V. Lyons, 74 of Ocean Grove passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Manor by the Sea Assisted Living. Rodney was born in Neptune and raised in New York City. He moved to Brielle and there he graduated from Manasquan High School. He attended Howard University for 4 years. After college Rodney was a mail carrier for about a year in Neptune before he started his 30 year career with 3M in Freehold as Quality Control Specialist. Rodney loved raising tropical fish, gardening and model trains. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan. The most important thing about Rodney was, when you were with him, he always made sure you were having a good time.
Rodney was predeceased by his grandparents Viola and Edward Morgan, his parents Vincent and Lorraine Lyons and his brother Reggie Lyons. He is survived by his twin younger brother Raymond Lyons and his sister Kathleen Holland, and his loving children, Karen Denise Lyons of North Plainfield, NJ, Kelly Marie Lyons of Manassas, VA, Jason Vincent Lyons and his wife Brenda of Sicklerville, NJ, Marc David Lyons and his wife Kate of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, Rodney Vincent Lyons, Jr. of Asbury Park, NJ and his wife, Grace, and their mother, Beverly Lyons of Asbury Park, NJ. Rodney was the cherished grandfather of Alicia, Christopher and Kayla Lyons and their mother Karen Baier Lyons of Spring Lake Heights, and Anthony, Dante and Mason Lyons.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 12 pm to 2 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736, with a prayer service to begin at 2 pm. Burial will be at a later time at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle, NJ.
